Couples Counseling in Round Rock
Attachment-based relationship counseling in person in Round Rock and online throughout Texas.
You may care deeply about each other and still find yourselves having the same difficult conversation. One of you reaches for connection while the other pulls away. Hurt turns into frustration, and the distance grows. Couples counseling offers a place to slow down and understand what happens between you.
Understanding the pattern together
I’m Jessie Kuhn, LPC-S. My approach to couples counseling is relational, attachment-based, and trauma-informed. I draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), object relations family therapy, and systems perspectives. We explore each person’s experience and the patterns that leave you feeling disconnected, unheard, or alone.
Our work can make room for conflict, emotional distance, trust, intimacy, grief, life transitions, and the ways earlier experiences influence your relationship now. Rather than only looking at the latest disagreement, we become curious about what each of you needs and what makes it difficult to reach one another.
These perspectives help us pay attention to the emotional cycle between you, the expectations and protective responses each of you brings into the relationship, and the wider family patterns that shape how you relate. We become curious about what happens beneath the disagreement and what makes closeness feel difficult.
Making room for connection and repair
Sessions provide space to notice what happens when conversations become painful, put words to what is beneath protective responses, and explore different ways of relating. We work at a pace that allows both partners to participate and be heard.
You do not need to have the same understanding of the problem before we begin. We can start with where each of you is and talk together about your hopes for counseling.
Faith and your relationship
My Christian faith shapes my understanding of relationships and healing. For couples who desire it, counseling can include prayer, Scripture, and Christian theology. We can discuss how faith is meaningful or complicated for each partner and how you would like it included.
